John Sharpe’s call went silent on July 30, 2025. He was 90. John was born in Tulsa OK. He was in the Navy as an electronics technician during the Korean War, and after discharge, spent some time doing seismographic oil exploration.
He graduated from Oklahoma State with a degree in Electrical Engineering and went to work for Texas Instruments where he worked on components for NASA projects Mariner II and Lunar Orbiter. He then worked for Electrospace Systems, Inc. and Raytheon where he worked on various military projects.
John was a long-time member of RWK and could be frequently heard on the repeater talking to his son John K5JHS.
